How to prepare your child for their first visit
We see children as young as infancy for first time check-ups, consultations, and emergencies. You can make the first visit a pleasant one, by reinforcing our role as the doctor who keeps teeth healthy.
Our main goal of the first visit is to educate the parents and child. We will discuss with you and your child proper brushing and flossing, diet, habits, fluoride needs, review common dental problems and answer any questions you may have. We use a “tell-show-do” technique to examine and clean (or polish) your child’s teeth. For the little ones, we mimic the pediatrician office. Many times, your child will sit on your lap so they feel safe and secure. Sometimes, we do a “knee-to-knee” exam. This is where the parents and the dentist/hygienist sit facing each other with the child on the parents lap. We will talk to your child age appropriately. Our practice philosophy is to provide excellent oral health care in a nurturing environment. We treat your child as if they were our own.
